Tumour
Nina's Chinchilla MonAmi had an op to remove a tumour on his shoulder. Nina was kind enough to share her pics. with us so I added details and photographs. Nina lives in Norway with her friend Renate and Renate's twin daughters. Nina has an msn group site Named Tiara Chins. In the first Photograph this is MoniAmi on the operating table being prepared for surgery. The 'lump' is clearly visible now that his fur has been shaved off

Nina and Renate had permission granted to them to be there while operation to remove the tumour took place and also took some photographs of their choice. The next photograph shows MonAmi anaesthetised and the surrounding area covered with only the tumour visible

The vet now operating and starting the incision to enable him to have a better look at the growth which is really quite some size.

The operation was really complicated as the vet found the growth was attached to the bone of MonAmi's shoulder.

In pic below he is carefully slicing away the tumour from the bone. It took quite some time to do this part of the operation

After finally removing the tumour it was lain on the sterile covering so that the vet could have a look at it and decide if he had got it all off without any harm to surrounding tissue.

The next photograph shows where the vet cut an incision into the growth

Operation over and vet has now closed the incision and has put in sutures. It's a nice job he made of it too.

MonAmi made an excellent recovery from the anaesthetic and at the time he had to have sutures removed it can be seen the fur is growing back already.

In photograph undate below you will clearly see MonAmi is looking good and looking so much better

Unfortunately after having extra longevity to life and enjoying some happy times, MonAmi had another growth start which grew rapidly.. Nina decided it kinder to not operate as it was suspected that more would grow on other parts of his body later too. He had been granted few months more months in which Nina had some precious time with him. He died a few months later. Even though Nina knew it would happen, it was still such a sad loss the day MonAmi died.
Sleep the sleep of angels over rainbow bridge Mon Ami
you were dearly loved by Nina.
